"Makeup Artist of the Year" Contest Experience

I had the chance to enter a "Makeup Artist of the Year" at my university. It's a new addition to the much celebrated "CAS Words and Music" fanfare held every year where CAS ( College of Arts and Sciences ) students would show off their talents. It's also a time of the year where teachers can show case what they've got as well. The event is anticipated by everyone every school year.

The day did not start great to be honest. I woke up late and I lost the lens cap of my camera. I was just so not in the mood and to top it all of, the monthly visitor decided to show up. Great timing, right?

Anyway, I thank the Lord for my friends. They helped me get back on track and stay focused. They also were my P.A.'s for the day which was very sweet.

It's always a delight working with Anne. Just recently, she asked me to help her with her personal project- a photo story. The concept she had captured my attention because I love Cleopatra, I love everything old to be exact. Since theshoot we did was a photo story, she shared 

what she envisioned the story to be.

Anne told me that Alex's (our vivacious model) character is a descendant of Cleopatra and that she's like a modern version of the old Cleo. The locale was in a hidden beach in a small town way down south of Cebu name Aluguinsan.

The beach was amazing. White sands and blue waters. But we shot on a Sunday so there were people there.  Bur that's a different story.

This was a shoot I did for a local shoe company named MEJIA. I got so excited when my friend and very talented photographer, Anne, told me she recommended me as the Makeup artist and Hair stylist. It will be a breakthrough for me, I told myself. I will forever be thankful to Anne for getting me the job. 

Jessica Alba Inspired Look for Mariel

Today, I had the privilege of doing my close friend's hair and makeup for her PROM. We have known each other since highschool and it was a bit surreal for me to be actually there doing her makeup. Who would ever thought right?

Here's how she looked! 

Ever since high school, She loved Jessica Alba. I figured since her hair is slightly lighter, a Jessica Alba look would ver much suit her. And it did! 

Sunstar Cebu: Gems & Designs (Premium Concept)

The shoot I did last Sunday, January 27, 2011, was featured on our local daily here in Cebu. 

I have to say i was completely shocked and utterly overjoyed when i heard the news from a couple of friends of mine saying my name was on the newspaper. I quickly got my own copy and was in awe when i saw the spread.
